We wear busy like a badge of honour
Busyness has been the killer of my creativity lately.
We go through the day knocking off activities on our to-do lists, feeling good about everything we cross off. We wear busy like a badge of honour, as if there is a prize we get for packing out schedule.
But at some point we must ask if we’re mistaking productivity for being busy and active. It feels good yes. But how do we make time for the things that matter?
Say No: to new tasks that aren’t as important as the others.
Prioritise: Constantly evaluate your tasks and ask: “are you getting the right things done first?”
110% vs 11%: Some tasks only need 11% of your effort to get done. Some tasks need everything you’ve got. Be intentional.
Once we have clearly decided what is more important than the others, it is now about deep work. Spend the time to be focused on the task at hand. No distractions. No multitasking. No overwhelm.
“Being busy is about being good at everything while being productive is about being great at a few important things.”
Less activity→ more focus→ more intention→ more productivity
